Jessica* is a Fox Scholar at Lenczner Slaght. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law with French and French Law from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. Jessica has refined her written and oral advocacy skills through extensive mooting. She has participated in the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, in which her team won an award for Best Complainant Memorandum, and has also won a national environmental law mooting competition. It is due to this experience that Jessica excels at§ devising persuasive legal arguments and creative advocacy strategies in the courtroom. She has clerked for judges at the European Court of Human Rights and the High Court of England and Wales. She has also pursued her interest in environmental law in recent roles at national and international environmental law organizations. Inside and outside the office, Jessica prides herself in solving problems no matter the situation, whether it be addressing a complex legal problem for a client, tackling different terrain on a long hike, or scaling walls at her local climbing centre. .

Jessica Allen (she/her)

is a Fox Scholar at Lenczner Slaght.

Jessica graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Law with French and French Law from the University of Nottingham and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. At law school, she was a local and national board member of the European Law Students’ Association, in which role she established a national essay competition and an international law review among other projects. She also spent a year studying abroad at l’Université Toulouse 1 Capitole.

Jessica enrolled in the Bar Professional Training Course in 2018, supported by major scholarships from Gray’s Inn and City Law School. She refined her written and oral advocacy by representing City Law School at the European Round of the John H. Jackson Moot Court Competition, in which her team won an award for Best Complainant Memorandum. She also won a national public law mooting competition and two national essay competitions. Following her call to the Bar, Jessica clerked for judges at the European Court of Human Rights and the High Court of England and Wales.

Jessica has a particular interest in environmental law, having been an active member of the UK Environmental Law Association since 2014. During lockdown, she volunteered to produce a comparative law report for WWF Greece on the legal and institutional frameworks for protected areas in four European countries. She also volunteered as a caseworker at the Environmental Law Foundation.

Before arriving in Canada, Jessica assisted with strategic litigation as part of ClientEarth’s Clean Air team. She will undertake pupillage at a specialist property, planning and environmental law chambers when she returns to London next year.
