While in law school, Sophie competed in and judged student mooting competitions, and also worked with a charity to teach debating in two London prisons. She also worked pro bono for charities, including appearing in welfare tribunals and undertaking written advocacy for appeals of immigration case funding decisions.
Prior to law school, she received a First Class Honours Degree in History from the University of Auckland. While there, she also studied English, History and German and took up a DAAD German scholarship to study German in Berlin.
