For his exceptional advocacy, commitment to advancing EDI and innovation, and dedication to mentorship, Jonathan Chen was recognized as a 2024 Lexpert Rising Star at last night’s award ceremony at the Liberty Grand in Toronto.

“Jonathan is exceptional as a lawyer, leader, and mentor – a triple threat! He is a go-to partner on the most complex of cases, consistently relied upon by clients and colleagues to navigate the trickiest of legal issues,” says Managing Partner, Monique Jilesen. “As leader of our Innovation Hive and an AI Taskforce member, he is also shaping the firm’s future for the benefit of our clients. His recognition as a Rising Star is more than well-deserved.”

The Lexpert Rising Star Awards celebrate leading lawyers 40 and under who have an outstanding track record of success in their field, are changemakers in the legal industry, leaders in their communities, and important contributors to their firm’s success. Jonathan embodies all these qualities and more. Our clients wholeheartedly agree:

In addition to leading a successful and growing litigation practice in complex commercial disputes, class actions, product liability, and professional negligence, as well as his internal mentorship activities, Jonathan devotes considerable time to advancing the legal industry and the broader community. As an active member of FACL and OBA leader, he regularly attends events, encourages firm and community participation, facilitates connections, and is frequently invited to speak on topics such as trial advocacy, legal trends, life as a litigator, and innovation. In 2024, he also received the 2024 FACL Mentor of the Year Award and the University of Toronto’s New College Arbor Award for his dedication to training the next generation of lawyers over the last decade.

Congratulations, Jonathan!
