Sana Halwani Named Among Top 250 Women in IP
Sana Halwani is globally recognized as one of the world’s leading female IP practitioners in Managing Intellectual Property’s Top 250 Women in IP list.
The Top 250 Women in IP list recognizes leading female lawyers across 30 jurisdictions who have performed exceptionally for their clients and firms in the past year. Sana is more than deserving of this recognition.
Sana is Head of the firm’s growing Intellectual Property Group and is a leader in IP litigation in Canada. Her practice is generally comprised of large, high profile and/or cross-border IP litigation. She appears before all levels of the Ontario and Federal courts, including the Supreme Court of Canada, and regularly provides strategic patent and regulatory advice. In the last year, Sana has appeared twice at the Supreme Court of Canada on behalf of interveners, Authors Alliance and Ariel Katz, both in appeals that have the potential to be extremely important in Canadian copyright law and to the copyright tariff regime specifically. She continues to be recognized by clients and peers for her scientific background, sharp legal skills, and deep industry knowledge.
Beyond her litigation excellence, Sana is a leading advocate for EDI at our firm and in the legal profession. She is Chair of our Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee and co-founder of ReferToHer™, a groundbreaking program that helps keep women top of mind for referrals.
