IP Team Nominated among the Best for 2017 LMG Life Sciences Awards
Lenczner Slaght is proud to announce that our IP team is a finalist in three major awards at the 2017 LMG Life Sciences Awards, recognizing leading lawyers and law firms in the US, Canada and Europe that have made a significant impact in the life sciences industry.
Along with the firm’s nomination in the “Canadian Patent Contentious Firm of the Year” category, two of our IP litigators have also been short-listed. Andrew Skodyn is nominated for “Canadian Patent Litigation Attorney of the Year” and Melanie Baird is nominated for “Canadian Rising Star”.
Andrew is best known for his experience in patent litigation. He has represented clients in patent infringement and impeachment actions, applications and arbitrations in a wide range of industries. This includes pharmaceuticals and life sciences, manufacturing, agriculture, aquaculture and oil and gas. He understands the value of ideas and innovations and has the subject matter expertise to protect them.
Melanie’s intellectual property practice includes patent and Patented Medicines (Notice of Compliance) proceedings, as well as trademark and copyright matters. Melanie acted as counsel in the first biologic and the first biosimilar drug patent cases in Canada. Melanie has worked extensively with pharmaceutical companies on patent, civil and commercial cases and is intimately familiar with the industry and the business of pharma companies. She can conquer any complex problem.
Our Intellectual Property lawyers have the technical expertise necessary to understand any life sciences product, and the trial experience and advocacy expertise to protect them successfully.
Andrew, Melanie and Sana Halwani will be in attendance at the awards ceremony at Essex House in New York on Wednesday, September 13th, 2017.
