Lexpert’s Big Suits: Rutman v. Rabinowitz

Rutman v. Rabinowitz featured in the 2018 summer issue of Lexpert Magazine as one of the Top Big Suits of 2018. In this particular litigation of significance, Lenczner Slaght's Matthew Sammon and Jessica Roher were counsel to the respondent, Ronald Rutman.

In this seminal internet defamation case, the Court of Appeal for Ontario clarified the law of concerted action liability and upheld a very large damages awards for what it characterized as a prolonged, persistent and vicious internet campaign against a prominent chartered accountant and businessman in Toronto, Ronald Rutman, designed to harm his personal and professional reputation. This decision has received significant media attention in the last year.
