Lenczner Slaght is pleased to welcome two new associates to our Intellectual Property Group, Naomi Metcalfe and Veronica C. Tsou. Both Naomi and Veronica come to us from leading international firms with proven experience in advocacy, further enhancing our ability to protect clients’ valuable IP. Bringing varied technical backgrounds, diverse thinking, and a deep understanding of the IP landscape, our growing team continues to successfully litigate complex cases, both large and small.
Naomi practices primarily in IP litigation with experience in complex patent disputes involving mechanical, computer and life sciences technology. She has also assisted clients in cases concerning trademark, copyright, and commercial matters and has acted as counsel before the Federal Court and Ontario Superior Court. As a law student at the University of Western Ontario, Naomi received the Bereskin & Parr Award in Industrial and Intellectual Property for demonstrating exceptional academic ability in the subject. Naomi also obtained a BSc.H. in Life Sciences from Queen’s University, graduating with distinction.
Veronica's practice also encompasses a broad-range of intellectual property litigation, including patents, trade-marks, and trade secret disputes. She has assisted with matters before the Federal Court of Canada, including patent infringement trials, PM(NOC) hearings, judicial reviews and trademark matters. Veronica also assisted with IP protection strategies and intellectual property agreements. Veronica graduated with a JD from the University of Ottawa (cum laude) and completed her nanotechnology engineering degree at the University of Waterloo. While in law school, Veronica competed in the Harold Fox Intellectual Property Moot and won the award for Best Factum.
