Windsor Law Celebrates Sahar Talebi, Recipient of the Dual JD Transnational Leader Award

For her outstanding professional achievements and significant contributions to both the legal profession and broader community on an international scale, Sahar Talebi has been honoured with the 2025 Dual JD Transnational Leader Award.

Sahar is an associate at Lenczner Slaght, where she has developed a sophisticated litigation practice focused on injunctions, civil fraud matters, and complex commercial and shareholder disputes, serving clients that include banks, foreign governments, and major private and public sector institutions. Her Dual JD from Windsor Law and the University of Detroit Mercy laid the foundation for a career that has already reached the Supreme Court of Canada, where she most recently represented the Canadian Council of Muslim Women as an intervener in the constitutional challenge to Quebec's Bill 21, advocating before the Court for the rights of Muslim women.

Beyond her exceptional legal practice, Sahar has demonstrated an unwavering dedication to mentoring young, racialized lawyers through her roles as mentor with the Group of Racialized (Ontario) Women Litigators, Chair of the Allyship Working Group at The Advocates' Society, and Vice President of Young Women in Law. Her efforts have helped create opportunities that benefit the legal community today while ensuring its continued growth and success in the future.

Whether advocating before the Supreme Court of Canada on matters of international significance, mentoring the next generation of lawyers, or building a litigation practice that spans borders, Sahar exemplifies the transnational leadership the Dual JD Program was designed to foster. She continues to be an inspiration to prospective students, current students, and alumni of the American & Canadian Dual JD Program of Windsor Law.

Congratulations, Sahar, on this well-deserved recognition!
