Discussion topics included professional obligations with respect to the objectivity of experts, procedural changes designed to increase the efficiency of expert evidence, understanding the court's role as gatekeeper and unique issues arising in the context of independent medical examinations.

Dena Varah and Naomi Loewith, together with Afshan Ali, Senior Counsel at CIBC Legal Department, will be conducting a webinar as part of the Canadian Corporate Counsel Association/ Canadian Bar Association's Webinar Series on May 14, 2015 from 12:00pm to 1:30 pm. This session will address the strategic decisions that Directors and Officers often have to make during litigation and the advice their in-house counsel should be prepared to give. It will also raise issues that strategically thinking counsel should bring to their attention.
