Windsor Law Celebrates Mariam Moktar
Mariam Moktar was recognized with the Emerging Leaders in Law Award at last night’s Annual Windsor Law Alumni Gala for her leadership in the legal profession and continued service to her community.
Mariam is an experienced lawyer who makes clients her top priority and vigorously advocates on their behalf. Her sound judgment and exceptional work ethic is the difference in every case she is on. She is one of our expert litigators.
Mariam’s varied civil litigation practice includes professional liability and regulation, employment litigation, commercial litigation, administrative law and class actions.
When Mariam is not working, she is contributing to her community. Mariam is the co-founder of the Canadian Association of Somali Lawyers (“CASL”), which is a national organization of Somali-Canadian legal professionals working to promote equity, justice, and opportunities for Somali-Canadian legal professionals and to facilitate access to legal services for the Somali-Canadian community. Mariam has served as Vice-President for two years and is currently the President of CASL. Mariam also provides pro bono legal services and mentors young members of the Somali community. At Lenczner Slaght, Mariam mentors articling students and junior associates.
Earlier this year, Mariam was recognized with the 2018 Precedent Setter Award.
Congratulations, Mariam, on this well-deserved award!
