Lenczner Slaght Litigators Elected to The Advocates’ Society’s Leadership
We are pleased to announce that Anne Posno, Nina Bombier and Shara Roy have been elected to prominent executive positions at The Advocates’ Society, a preeminent organization dedicated to promoting effective advocacy and access to justice. Peter J. Osborne, Brian Kolenda, and Chris Kinnear Hunter will also be continuing their terms in their leadership positions.
Anne Posno has again been selected for the position of Member-at-Large on the Estates Litigation Practice Group. She will be one of the three Members-at-Large responsible for working with the Leadership Committee to carry out the responsibilities and initiatives of the Group, including to support its members with educational programming and networking events. As a recognized expert in Estates Litigation, Anne will continue to make significant contributions to The Advocates’ Society and its members.
Nina Bombier has been named Secretary of the Personal Injury and Insurance Practice Group. As part of the Leadership Committee, Nina will be responsible for developing educational content, promoting programs, and supporting initiatives with respect to issues that affect members of the Group. As an expert in Insurance Litigation, Nina regularly contributes to continuing legal education programs. She will continue to contribute her expertise and knowledge to The Advocates’ Society and its members.
Shara Roy joins the Leadership Committee of the Securities Litigation Practice Group as Secretary. Shara was previously a Member-at-Large of the Practice Group. In her new role, she will be responsible for developing educational content, promoting programs, and supporting initiatives with respect to issues that affect members of the Group. As a leading expert in Securities Litigation and in her new position, Shara will continue to make significant contributions to The Advocates’ Society and its members.
Peter J. Osborne will continue his term on The Advocates’ Society Board of Directors until 2022. The Board is comprised of leaders of the bar from across Canada who oversee and contribute to the work of the Standing Committees and Task Forces. The Directors play a key role in furthering the Society’s mission to provide opportunities for CPD, advocacy, mentoring and collegiality. Peter is also Chair to The Advocates' Society Modern Advocacy Task Force. The Task Force will seek to advance the reform of the Canadian justice system in light of COVID-19.
Brian Kolenda will continue his term on the +10 Standing Committee. Brian will be a strong voice for mid-career advocates and will help the committee ensure that there are opportunities for networking and engagement for their members and will help provide access to justice initiatives, pro bono initiatives, leadership, and career and business development programs.
Chris Kinnear Hunter has been reappointed for another two-year term on the Young Advocates Standing Committee. He will continue to be a voice for young advocates, ensuring that their issues of concern are addressed within the profession, and will help provide them with networking, mentorship, and volunteer opportunities.
