Esther Nwator (she/her)
is Manager of the Healthcare Practice at Lenczner Slaght.
Esther supports a team of allied litigation professionals, drawing on her legal and regulatory expertise to remove obstacles, advance the firm’s priorities, and create conditions where the team can do their best work. She oversees our high-volume practice while ensuring the highest standards of service and client deliverables.
Esther is a member of the Law Society of England and Wales and the Law Society of Ontario. Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght, she gained more than 15 years of experience as a lawyer and regulatory expert, working across the U.K. and Canada. She is experienced in high-accountability regulatory and legal environments, including acting as legal counsel to healthcare professionals and their indemnifiers in both jurisdictions. She also spent nearly a decade at Canada's largest healthcare regulator, where she recruited, trained, and led a large team of investigators while supporting statutory committees through education and guidance.
Esther has represented healthcare professionals at the Superior Court of Justice and the Ontario Court of Appeal, as well as before regulators and tribunals. She co-facilitated the Transition to Clerkship course at the University of Toronto’s Temerty Faculty of Medicine (Mississauga Academy of Medicine) in 2015 and 2016 and served as member-at-large and newsletter editor on the Ontario Bar Association Health Law Section Executive in 2018 and 2019.
Esther brings a longstanding commitment to professional regulation, health law, and client-centered service.

Esther Nwator authored an article examining the restrictions on the use of the title "Doctor" by health professionals in Ontario under the Regulated Health Professions Act 1991, prompted by the case of an audiologist found guilty of professional misconduct for using the abbreviation "Dr." before her name.
