Sherry-Maria Ghaly (she/her)

is counsel at Lenczner Slaght.

Sherry-Maria’s practice focuses exclusively on health law. She has extensive experience representing health care professionals across a wide range of matters, including medical negligence, privacy challenges, proceedings before the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, and other administrative and regulatory issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Sherry-Maria served as Legal Counsel at The Hospital for Sick Children, where she advised the hospital on, amongst other things, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation and contract negotiation. She also represented the hospital in arbitration, as well as before the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal, and supported its professional healthcare staff in navigating regulatory inquiries. Before this, Sherry-Maria practiced at a national law firm, where she gained experience litigating professional negligence claims, complex commercial disputes, and other regulatory and constitutional matters.

Sherry-Maria received her JD from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. While in law school, Sherry-Maria served as the Equity Officer for the Students’ Law Society (SLS). In this role, which she occupied for two consecutive years, Sherry-Maria worked to ensure that the SLS and the Faculty of Law policies were equitable and inclusive of all members of her law school community. Sherry-Maria is passionate about equity and inclusion and supports and upholds these values at the firm.
