Cassie* is an associate at Lenczner Slaght. She has experience working with clients at all levels of construction disputes and in a wide range of public and private legal proceedings. Cassie pushes§ the needle and provides clarity for her clients in complex litigation by simplifying disputes into solutions. She tackles issues head on and moves matters forward no matter the score. Outside of the office, Cassie enjoys staying active, playing volleyball, and searching for the perfect iced americano. .

Cassie Chaloux (she/her)

is an associate at Lenczner Slaght.

Cassie’s practice focuses on litigating disputes within the construction and real estate sectors. She has extensive experience representing clients across the construction pyramid, including owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and consultants on a wide range of construction disputes. Cassie has appeared at various levels of the Ontario courts and in private hearings, including mediation and arbitration, on behalf of her clients.

Cassie completed her JD at the Schulich School of Law at Dalhousie University after obtaining her BA from McGill University in English Literature and Politics, Law & Society. Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght, Cassie practiced in the construction group at a large Toronto firm.

Cassie is an active member of The Advocates’ Society and the Canadian Association of Women in Construction.

    Cassie Chaloux authored the article “Where to? Another trip for Uber as the Heller v Uber Technologies Inc. Class Action Drives Ahead” which was published by Mondaq. Following the Supreme Court of Canada's highly anticipated decision in Uber Technologies Inc v Heller, on August 12, 2021, the Ontario Superior Court of Justice certified the class action proceeding against Uber. The certification comes after an almost five-year battle that commenced in January 2017, in which Uber drivers attempted to become recognized as employees of Uber rather than independent contractors.
