Monika K. Steger (she/her)

is counsel at Lenczner Slaght.

Monika’s practice focuses on representing healthcare professionals. She assists regulated health professionals in areas of health law including medical negligence, privacy issues, the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario proceedings, hospital privileges matters, and other administrative and regulatory health issues.

Prior to joining the firm, Monika summered at the Canadian Centre for Elder Law and then articled and practiced at a leading litigation boutique in Toronto, where she gained experience in health law and insurance defence.

Monika completed her JD at Lakehead University, where she was deeply involved in the community. She volunteered with the Lakehead Chapter of Pro Bono Students Canada and worked as a case worker at the Lakehead University Community Legal Services Clinic. She graduated with First Class Standing and received numerous course prizes including top standing in Property Law, Evidence Law, and Family Law.

    Counsel to the moving-party physician in successfully bringing a motion to obtain third-party records before the Ontario Physicians and Surgeons Discipline Tribunal. The requested records were obtained and produced after being found likely relevant and their production determined to be in the interests of justice.
