Christina Papageorgakopoulos (she/her)
is an articling student at Lenczner Slaght.
Christina completed her JD at Queen’s University Faculty of Law. In her second and third years, Christina served as a student caseworker at the Queen’s Prison Law Clinic. She began by working with inmates in preparation for appearances in Disciplinary Court for charges under the Corrections and Conditional Release Act. As an advanced caseworker, Christina assisted on a variety of files, including a Coroner’s Inquest and an intervention at the Supreme Court of Canada.
Christina also committed to volunteering her time to Pro Bono Students Canada. She started as a student volunteer with the ID Clinic and in her second year, she took over as Project Lead and was awarded the Chief Justice Richard Wagner Award for outstanding leadership.
Prior to attending Queen’s, Christina completed her Bachelor of Arts at McGill University. Her research focused on the history of global conflict and nation-building after the First World War.

The Court of Appeal for Ontario (“ONCA”) will hear the appeal of Dufault v The Corporation of the Township of Ignace (“Dufault”) this Friday. While Ontario courts previously recognized that creating jurisprudence based on hypothetical situations is a slippery slope, since the decision in Waksdale v Swegon North America Inc, courts in Ontario have repeatedly invalidated termination clauses in employment agreements by considering hypothetical breaches of employment standards legislation.
