Alexa* Jarvis is an associate at Lenczner Slaght. She has experience representing clients in a wide-range of matters, including complex contractual disputes, class actions, construction litigation, criminal and quasi-criminal matters, and medical malpractice. She is a§ fierce advocate, committed to the success of her clients. She leaves no stone unturned to ensure her client’s success. Alexa is comfortable in a courtroom regardless of the subject matter. She is a fighter and devotes herself to every client mandate – big or small. Alexa has represented clients on a pro-bono basis in criminal trials before the Superior Court. She has also assisted on complex jurisdiction disputes at the appellant level for large corporations. .

Alexa Jarvis

Alexa’s litigation practice covers a wide range of areas, including commercial disputes, class actions, construction, criminal and quasi-criminal matters, and medical malpractice.

Prior to joining the firm, Alexa practiced in the litigation and dispute resolution group of a national firm. She has appeared before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice, the Ontario Court of Appeal, and the Divisional Court. She has also represented clients on a pro-bono basis in criminal trials before the Superior Court.

Alexa completed her JD at Dalhousie University. An active volunteer throughout her time at law school, Alexa was a student advocate at the Student Advocacy Service and a peer tutor for the Indigenous Black & Mi'kmaq program. As a volunteer at the Dalhousie Legal Aid Clinic, Alexa appeared before the Nova Scotia Superior Court and the Court of Appeal.

    There’s nothing like a jury trial. The Honourable Justice Brian Dickson famously commented that juries were “endowed with an abundance of common sense”. The virtues of civil jury trials to our justice system may be too numerable to list here. But as a point of advocacy, the exercise of telling your client’s story to a jury of their peers – instead of to a judge sitting up on the dais – requires different skills, different sensibilities, and different presentation styles.
