Delna Contractor
is a lawyer at Lenczner Slaght.
Delna practices in a broad range of areas, including commercial litigation, class actions and insolvency matters under the CCAA. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario.
Prior to joining the firm, Delna practiced at the Toronto office of a large international firm.
While in law school, Delna gained valuable courtroom experience independently running several trials, including an appeal at the Court of Queen's Bench. Delna was an active participant in the competitive mooting program, placing first overall in the Davies National Corporate Securities Moot in 2014, and receiving the top factum award at the Jessup International Law Moot Competition in 2013.

Nelson v Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario
Counsel to the Defendant, Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario, on a successful motion to strike an action by an employee on the basis that the Court lacked jurisdiction over employment disputes that arise under collective agreements. The motion Judge’s decision was upheld by the Court of Appeal of Ontario.

Counsel to the City of Hamilton in a Judicial Inquiry into the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

Counsel to the defendant accounting firm in a claim alleging negligence and breach of trust against a former partner of the firm.

Represented a father and his disabled son on a pro bono basis in an appeal concerning disability support payments from the Government of Ontario. The father was awarded the maximum amount of benefits retroactive to the date of his application. (Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght)

Deciem Inc v 1127776 Ontario Limited
Counsel to the plaintiff, Deciem Inc in a commercial lease dispute. The plaintiff was entirely successful on summary judgment and received a significant costs award. The judgment was upheld on appeal. (Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght)
