Delna Contractor (she/her)
is a partner at Lenczner Slaght.
Delna has a wide range of expertise and experience in private and public law matters. Her civil litigation practice includes complex commercial disputes, restructuring and insolvency cases, civil fraud, professional negligence and defamation matters. Her public law practice includes workplace investigations and judicial reviews.
Delna has experience prosecuting and defending claims at trial and on appeal. She has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario as well as arbitrations and administrative tribunals.
Delna is passionate about improving diversity and inclusion in the legal profession, particularly for women of colour and first-generation lawyers. She acts as a mentor to junior lawyers and law students through several legal organizations.
Delna is a member of the Toronto Commercial List Users’ Committee, the Advocates’ Society, the Group of Racialized (Ontario) Women Litigators (GROWL) and the Federation of Asian Canadian Lawyers, where she is an active member of the Advocacy Committee.

Counsel to the City of Hamilton in a Judicial Inquiry into the Red Hill Valley Parkway.

Nelson v Her Majesty The Queen in Right of Ontario
Counsel to the Defendant, Her Majesty the Queen in Right of Ontario, on a successful motion to strike an action by an employee on the basis that the Court lacked jurisdiction over employment disputes that arise under collective agreements. The motion Judge’s decision was upheld by the Court of Appeal of Ontario.

Counsel to the defendant accounting firm in a claim alleging negligence and breach of trust against a former partner of the firm.

Represented a father and his disabled son on a pro bono basis in an appeal concerning disability support payments from the Government of Ontario. The father was awarded the maximum amount of benefits retroactive to the date of his application. (Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght)

Deciem Inc v 1127776 Ontario Limited
Counsel to the plaintiff, Deciem Inc in a commercial lease dispute. The plaintiff was entirely successful on summary judgment and received a significant costs award. The judgment was upheld on appeal. (Prior to joining Lenczner Slaght)
